Man your truck looks good. Did you get your surging issue figured out?

Thanks man!

And Nope. Lol. Driving with normal acceleration I can rarely notice it. It’s when I get over say 25% throttle. But I was just cruising to that show, and I’ve been dying to get it out. This is the first time I’ve taken it out in a year.

I should be done with this regular cab in the next couple of weeks, so then I’ll get back working on mine. I honestly don’t know where to start. I’m going to double check feed tubes, and get a gauge on the lift pump...then go from there.

I got a surge on my on any tune above 2. Going to switch tuners first cause ive been wanting to anyways. After thst will start narrowing it down. I know my lift pump pressure is fine, feed tubes will be the next thing i check after tuning.

I think I have my surge issue figured out. I’ll let y’all know if what I’m thinking fixes it... on another note, any guesses as to what this is going to be??

Well here is what it was...this is just a test piece. I’m gonna make some that look a tad nicer. But since there is no simple way to move the brake reservoir and there are no cleaner options, I just made a cover for it. ?

As for the fueling issue, I’m pretty sure it’s resolved... root cause? I’m an idiot.

So when I bought the truck it had the II dual fueler kit already installed. I noticed the harness wasn’t like for every other dual pump kit I’ve installed, such as the one pictured below...

What I had resembled the picture below... I knew fleece made a dual pump splitter...I had never looked into them, but I was assuming that’s what this was, as it looks nothing like the PPE controller I’m used to.

In reality.... pictured below is a fleece dual pump splitter. The picture above (which I have) is a fleece dual pump controller.

In the end... I had my tunes written to work with a dual pump splitter, when I in fact have a dual pump controller. This explains I had problems before and after the injector swap.

Now I haven’t driven the truck yet, but the funky idle issue is definitely fixed. I’ll be driving the truck in the next couple of days to verify the surge is resolved, but I’m 99% sure I won’t be seeing any issues.

I feel like an idiot, but at least that’s one thing I have lined out and I can start logging/testing finally.

I've been curious about the durability of the ecm driver using the splitter rather than the controller.

Finally got a chance to drive the truck. Even on tune 1 this thing is rowdy. It feels faster than the old tow rig that ran 7.50...but could just be how hard this big single hits. I am having issues getting it to spool, but Ryan is working with me to try to get it to light. Regardless....I’m ecstatic to hear this thing spool up and scream down the road (in Mexico of course)

Got the first revision and loaded. Went for a test drive, and this thing drives great. Can street drive it with little to no haze, which I’m super happy about seeing as its a stock head, sbe, 5.9 with a t6 and 250 overs.

With this new file I can get it to spool somewhat. It’s a little temperamental...as one time it will spool, then the next it won’t. All we did was back off of the low boost fueling by 5% and it definitely helped a lot.

I did a log on a 15lb launch (which isn’t enough) on tune 1 and this thing moves out pretty good. Can’t wait to turn it up. I also took some videos/logs to send over to Ryan and we will see what he thinks. I’ll keep this thread updated on how it works out.

well, I haven’t even touched the truck over the last couple of weeks other than messing with these front bumper brackets... but I did snag these new laramie longhorn 20s for a street setup, so that I can get off of these radials. They need a little loving... but here they are.

Those will look good! When are you going to be able to take it to the track? Hopefully before winter time?

Yea I’m going to mess with it a little this week, then hopefully I’ll get a chance to get to the track within the next month. If nothing else I will have it at diesel truck wars at the end of October.

I’m considering getting a dragy, seeing as I have limited track time for testing. I can do some “Mexico” testing to get it dialed in. I’ve heard they are pretty accurate

A lot of people I have seen use them say they are only off by a little. would be nice for test hits!

So today I did some checking for boost leaks. First issue was leaking out of the threaded holes for the intake horn (bottom of the intake shelf) and out of the top of the threads themselves. So I put some thread sealant on them and let it sit up overnight. Now I’m leaking out of the gasket itself (figures). But I figured what the heck, let’s try to spool it up. So I let the truck run for 15ish minutes, then it spooled right up in around 10 seconds. I let it sit for 30
Minutes or so, and tried again and it spooled right up. That’s the first time I’ve had it repeatedly spool up at will without fighting it. So maybe I got the majority of that issue resolved.

I did notice this tho. I’ve never seen it before. It’s hard to tell in the pics, but this boot is slightly leaking. It’s really small bubbles leaking out of the cordage inside of the boot, not between the boot and pipe itself. It’s not much, and it took 25psi to start to bubble. But still kinda weird. Does this mean the boot is ripped internally?

Oh... by the way... this came in! I can’t wait to give it a shot. They are supposed to be super accurate. Gonna replace the intake gaskets next week then go give it a shot. “If you can’t take the truck to the track, bring the track to the truck” lol

I personally haven't seen that before, but im still green behind the ears lol. I would recommend to v-band it and be done.
