Over the thanksgiving holiday I decided to beef up the stock 47re transmission in my 98' Quad Cab 4x4 daily driver.
Upon investigation of several internal parts, I'm quite certain this transmission was not the stock unit from Dodge, at a minimum it was a freshly rebuilt unit since all of the clutches were brand new with visible borg warner labels and part numbers.
Anyway, the input shaft looks a little different than the other stock input shaft that I had sitting on my bench. The mystery shaft is the one on the left, the known stock shaft is the one on the right. It's quite possible that both shafts are stock from Dodge, just sourced from a different supplier/machine shop, who really knows when or where Dodge buys all of their stock transmission shafts. There is also a small possibility that this is an old-school upgraded shaft so can anyone help identify the mystery shaft on the left in these pictures?
Different machining on the end of the shaft.
Slightly different machining marks/finish on the shaft.
Different size feed holes, about 0.6mm difference in diameter.

Slightly different machining on bottom of shaft where intermediate shaft interfaces.
