To make a long story short, I ended up tearing up some transmission shafts in my 99 3500. I tore it down inspected all wear items, steam cleaned the bare case and reinstalled with 3 new shafts. Now the truck is up and running, however I'm having an issue when it shifts into 3rd gear. It shifts from 1-2 just as it should, but when its time for 3rd, it shifts in as it should but then it "lets go" and jumps into what I'm going to describe as a false neutral. Now with that said, I found if I click off the OD button it runs through the gears perfect. The history on the transmission is about 10k on a rebuild with a Goerend TC and valve body. Am I looking at a valve body issue, maybe a piece of dirt? Thanks in advance guys

Double check your shift linkage to see that its fully engaged in D. It sounds like you are loosing line pressure on the 2 to 3 shift. You can verify that with a gauge on the front port passenger side while you drive. Also your engine mount may be weak and temporarily pulling the shift lever into nuetral under a launch.

I have double checked the shift linkage, I even pulled the hair pin, removed the linkage and clicked it in with my hand. I agree with you about loosing line pressure,I just cant understand why...or what controls/holds it. Another thing that doesnt make sense to me, is why it shifts into 3rd ok with the overdrive button in the off position.

Talked to Craig at Goerend today. He wants me to snug the front band, try a different type of oil and adjust the TV cable. Can anyone think of anything else while I have the pan down.
