I have a 02 ex-cab sb 4x4 psd with an auto. I have had the truck a couple years it recently started smoking a bluish, white smoke almost all the time and it has an intermittent misfire that comes and goes and ranges in severity. Sometimes it misses just enough to be a pain and then ever once in a while it won’t hardly pull itself the miss seems to occur while already running it will be sitting idling and start running like crap. I have replaced the valve cover gaskets and wiring harness on both sides it has ben on a couple different scanners and i can not remember the code it throws. i will post that asap.

Sounds like a blown turbo seal. But I would also check the injectors, that could also trigger a misfire, that's usually what a misfire is, most of the time its a injector issue, whether it be a cracked injector cup/sleeve, or a bad injector all together. But I would check the following as well.

Blueish smoke relates to a an Oil/turbo issue
white smoke is coolant
greyish, is injector issue.

Are you throwing codes, make sure you pull them up next time.

Check for oil in the exhaust pipe. (pretty noticable) Check for shaft play in the turbo.

Get the codes read and go from there for the miss.
