Here's my welcome to vp44 ownership. I've only had this 01 3500 for a couple weeks and now it won't start. Only code its showing is the P1492. I know thst has something to do with the battery but not sure why it would cause a no start. Batteries are less than a year old

driver side battery box was missing the sensor...put a new one in and that did not help. The fan clutch has been out for a while. Could that cause a no start?

2nd gen fan clutch is not electronic. Sounds like you may want to look for open/shorted wiring that has to do with that sensor.

You have fuel psi at the VP?
Will it start on ether and run on fuel?
Check your cam / crank sensor too.

I don’t think the P1492 has anything to do with your no start, at least I've never experienced it.

I think it was 10-15psi during cranking. I haven't tried ether yet. I will pick up a crank sensor tomorrow.

It's been a long time, but I think the early 01s use the crank sensor and the later 01s use the cam sensor for primary pickup.
