Whats the best paint to use? And if anyone has some pics of something little different id like to see. Workn on the swap on my chevy and wanna b little bit different than average

I used por 15 on my last engine. 25k miles, 1 trip from California to Michigan, 1 Michigan/ohio winter. I used degreaser and cleaned the block to do some work a couple weeks ago and it honestly looked as good as it did when I painted it. Also used por 15 on my frame and front axle when my engine was out, that's holding up great also.
Por 15 is expensive, and takes extensive prep work.

If your doing bare metal that isn't rusted you have to spray a chemical converter thing on the bare metal. If you have half rust and half old paint i needed to get ALL the old paint off for it to bond right. The block turned out great but I had to redo the head cause I didn't get the old paint off and it peeled in those spots.
Not really extensive...but I view any prep work for paint as intensive since I believe that's the most important part of painting.

Hard to see, but I started with this greasy pig. 200k and who knows how long the timing case was loose and pumping oil down the engine and trans. About 10 hours of cleaning and drying every nook and crannie later I did two coats of parts store high heat ceramic primer and 2 coats of the same in semi gloss black. We will see how it holds up. I have to thank not enoughsmoke for the fancy red valve covers to match the truck!
