PCM codes are references to the strategy of the truck. Basically, how the truck is programmed from the factory. A PCM code will be unique for a truck that is a Green State truck(emissions controlled), standard shift or automatic, Excursion, Van, SuperDuty, etc. or even if it's an updated version. There are various changes in PCM codes/strategies to update issues like cold start, cold weather drivability,transmission shifting, and boost...to just name a few.
Some reflashes are much more involved than others. The latest reflashes for 2003 and early 2004 trucks remove the EBP sensor as an input for calculating boost.
Your YRE2 truck is a mid to late model 2005. It's not a Green State code and is used in Automatics. There are various updated reflash codes and a recall available. The recall updates the strategy and a sticker is installed over your coolant reservoir to lower the min/max level.
