BC, out trucks have a second relay for the starters, whether that is because Dodge's key switches are junk and couldn't handle the extra juice or that these solenoids pull a little more juice than the average starter, I don't know. I would personally run one, though I would think one of the little, 30 amp ones would suffice.
Des your truck have a good engine ground? Did you take it loose when swapping the pump? The starter grounds through it's mounting surface, so if you don't have a ground big enough to handle it the motor itself may not be able to turn. Your solenoids may be functioning through some smaller grounds elsewhere on the engine.
