possible 7.3 oil cooler problem

i went to get my oil changed today and found out i had oil in the antifreeze tank on top of the motor the oil was 2 quarts low but it looked good no coolent in the oil i was told it was either a headgasket problem or an oil cooler problem the trucks an 03 7.3 with 87,000 miles it dosent smoke at all unless u get on it then it smokes black any ideas and is the truck ok to drive till i can get it fixed? thanks.

If is is actually the Oil Cooler, I would say you can drive it some but wouldn't get carried away.. Had a '83 6.9l that had a leaking Oil Coller.. made a mess out of teh radiator after being drove a few months

they rarly fail but most likely culpret is the oil cooler

If you had a injector cup cracked you would be getting fuel into your coolant. i would almost bet its your oil cooler. hope this helps
