Thought I would post future progress of my build. Truck is a 1974 Dodge Powerwagon 200. My Great Uncle purchased this truck new on July 6, 1974 to use on the farm. (I have the window sticker and bill of sale) In 1998 (I was 14 years old), I purchased the truck from him to be my first truck. The truck was in rough condition.
It took me 2 years to get the truck back to its prime. (top of the cab is the only body panel original to the truck!)
I got the urge to start pulling it, so I did some motor work to the 360 and started the disease of sled pulling. Luck would have it that a valve dropped and cracked the block after destroying the head and piston. So the truck has sat for 4-5 years.
My luck has changed, and I have a job where I can afford to go all out and put this truck back to its prime again.
My Great Uncle has passed on now for some years, and would like to do the truck in memory of him (since we were very close).
I just picked up a donor truck, 1990 D200 2wd with a 12v. Motor seems to be in very good condition for the age!
Plan is:
-Install motor and trans from Donor truck into Powerwagon. The 2wd trans has the shorter tailhousing that looks to the the same as my 4x4 Powerwagon (divorced T-case)
-Fix all body work and repaint to match the color of my 2006 Powerwagon.
-Install a Eby alum flatbed and convert to a dually with a Dana 80 or 14bolt.
-Swap front Dana 44 for a 60
-Have disc brakes at all four corners
-Thinking of 33/12.5/16 Boggers on rear and 33/14.0/16 on the front, or 33/12.5/17 Nitto Mud Grapplers for all six.
-Ditch the bench seat for newer leather buckets. (not sure on this)
-Install Intercooler, larger turbo (nothing too crazy), turn the ve pump up a little. (all to be done once truck is up and running and body done)
Sorry for the long post. I will add pictures as I work on this. I hope to have the motor/trans swapped in the next week or two!
Any thoughts and opinions? I'm open to ideas if you have some better ideas!
Thanks
