I had my om603 build posted in the import diesel section, but since the motor isnt going back in the car i will just post everything here. Picked up a 1998 Isuzu Hombre for cheap from a friend and will be putting my om603 motor and trans in it. Plans for motor are 8mm elements, S362g (if I dont decide to go to compounds) Om606 rods, totally rebuild short block, custom headstuds, airdog lift pump, A-W intercooler. Will retain stock trans until it blows. If i can find a cheap 700r4 I may go that route for a good trans platform. The motor is currently at Mullvain Motorsports in East Peoria (only 30 miles from my shop). Had bad valve seals and were leaking like a seive. Plans for hombre chassis is still undecided for rear end, but i think for suspension mods we will just work with Caltracs for now. Goals are for it to be a 40mpg parts runner and a competitor in the 11.90 index class. It's not your average build, but i want fuel economy of a TDI and the versitility of a pickup. Only shooting for 400hp with the setup. I wish i could have found a om606 motor, but those are pretty hard and pricey to find.

i guess that's cool..
What idiot swaps diesels into gas cars the puts a little s300 on it?

Ordering the manual vb and the ratchet shifter this week. since the hombre comes with a 4l60e we will utilize that! going to daily it with the 2.2L until the motor comes back from the machine shop...then the fun begins

5k RPM shifts are the goal for this truck which isnt asking alot out of a OM603 considering stock peak power is made at 4600. 4.11 Gear ratio with 28 inch tires is what im planning on. which means at 5k shift from 3-4 puts me at around 3300rpm which will keep me in the power curve of the S362G! That's if I'm going about this correctly of course. 5k RPM in 3rd will put me around 101MPH, so 5500 rpm will put me around 112mph. So that should be about perfect for 11.90 and not even have to shift into OD. That being said I will go up to northern IL and throw it on there rollers and get the power curves to determine shift points, etc, etc, etc. Any input from the big time guys let me know what else needs to be accounted. all i want to do with this is run 11.90 index.

Finally getting some Connecting rods from Sweden thanks to Dieselmeken AB. We decided on 8mm 190cc of fuel and full load to 6000RPM. This should spool the S362G
