So this past weekend I did ball joints, all the steering linkages, and the left hub. MY questions is, why is Dodge so captive with the hubs? $225 for a hub from the Dodge dealer and the parts stores are not able to get them.

It has Timken bearings in it and also has a snap ring that holds them in. Why couldn't I buy some bearings and put them in? What am I missing besides the obvious bottom dollar? Shimming up the bearings?

Part numbers JRM4500-S & JRM4549ES.

Timken has a replacement part, chico auto parts in chico texas, north of bridgeport has them for 165 plus tax each. I want able to find a way to disassemble them.
Btw autozone can get them for 299, and carquest wow I got in denton is 370.
Rock auto has them for 150..
Good luck!

I just don't see why I cant just buy two bearings, clean it up, put them in, and reinstall it.

Cause they wouldn't make a ton on each hub...
I bet they press out after snap ring removal..
You got a shop there, give it a shot

Went thru the same thing Heath. They don't sell the bearing that I could find. Timken only supplies it to the Hub maker. Took to a bearing store in town and looked thru the Timken big book but couldnt order it. Next stop after that was the dealer.
