Anyone have any tips on making a reg cab short bed ?? I know I need a tank bed drive shaft brake lines ect. Is there anything else I need to know ? Does anyone have specific cutting details on the frame ? Thank you !

I shortened mine the difference between the front two bed mounts don't remember the measurements. I left my brake lines long and made a loop behind the fuel tank were it would be hidden. I drilled the rivets out and bolted mine back together I have about 30k miles on mine with no problems.

3rd gen has to be done below the cab IIRC.

2nd gens are easy. Grind the rivets off, chop the frame, drill new shackle mounts.

Here are some pics of my current build and also some frame dimensions.

Mine is a 2wd and I'm 4-linking the rear end so I didn't need to worry about the locations of the spring perches.
If you notice in the last picture the std long and short box the dimension A is the same. Dimension B is front to the rear axle. Most people that are keeping the rear leaf springs shorten the frame under the cab due to the rise in the frame from the cab section to the bed section. They just modify the rear cab support and weld it back to the frame.

That's going to drop down nice. I cut mine under the cab so I'm limited to how low I can go with the rear drop.

I have CalTracs, adjustable shocks, and rear sway bar. I also intend to run 12-14" wide tires in the rear.

But seriously a reg short bed 2wd, who needs traction???
