removing NV4500

Is there a better way to pull the NV4500 out of my 1996 truck than the way I am doing it? When I remove the tranny, I have to spin it almost 1/4 turn to the left to get the shifter tower to clear the non-square hole in the floor. When installing, I have to get the input shaft started and then roll the tranny to the upright position. Thought about cutting the hole in the floor square, but don't know if the boot will cover the part I cut out. Thanks.

Take the shifter and boot off the top of the tranny for installation and removal. Four 10mm bolts iirc

Won't work nike. He's got the bottle top. It doesn't come off like the late models.

jedeka, you should be able to let the tranny down far enough to clear. You may have to take the downpipe off the turbo to let the engine tilt far enough.

up until 97 i believe

you can jack the motor up in the front to get more tilt out of it, or hook an engine crane up to the front lifting eye to give it some tilt
