Ok might be a dumb question but has anyone tryed to replace them in the truck by just lifting the motor a bit? It looks like the crossmember is in the way so I didn't know if someone had tried it before or I should just pull it out to replace the rods and mains and oil pump.. thanks
Truck is a 97 12 valve 4wd ...

You can do it in the truck. The oil pan comes off relatively easily by jacking the engine up. But it also begs the question of why? I would assume if the engine needs bearings it probably needs rings too.

Also the oil pump is accessed from under the front cover and is an easy replacement in the truck if you want to do that

Thanks.. I figured it could be done but a pull of the oil pan will say how much or how far into it that I go. Just installed new head gasket cam springs head studs etc. But it's making noises up front so don't know if it's the oil pump and possibly spun a bearing or what until I pull the pan...

And if anyone knows if I put a 6.7 crank in it and rods is that all that I would need to make a stroker?

Rods are the same length between the 5.9 and 6.7. You'd need shorter rods, or machine the tops of the pistons. You will also likely have clearance issues between the rod caps/bolts and the skirts of the block. I had to do a bit of clearancing on #4 and 5 (IIRC), as there were two bosses inside the skirt. That was with R&R rods on pre-Storm block.

Haven't found anything yet just thinking about stuff so when I do look into the motor if it was to do a stroker to have something different

I had a cam gear start to walk off which made an interesting noise.
