The video has no sound. Looks like it may be old technology, but I have never heard of anything like this. I wonder if a 12 valve head could be designed to run something like this? Anyway I thought I would share, I thought it was interesting.

that is very interesting, pretty solid idea, looks like there would be more sealing areas to wear out, and the shape of the cut out port would have to be perfect because as it spins it would vary the size of the port the air is flowing into
 
I think they had problems with the valves sealing against cylinder pressure if I recall correctly.......I think that type of stuff would be best suited to 15,000rpm F1 engines.
 
A long time ago I saw some heads for a small block chevy with rotary valves... Made something like 200 ho over stock? I don't quite recall but it was very interesting..
 
they have several diesels running this technology, BMW if memory serves. And a very large ISB type cummins

Its expensive so never took off
 
Coates has been trumpeting this for decades.


I don't know if their product actually exists as anything more than a sink to con venture capital out of the wealthy, but the idea's been around forever.
