RPM signal to 0-5 volt analog for datalogging

I am using a Dakota Digital box to drive the factory V8 gas tach in the dash on my 2.5 truck off of my alternator and also using a Edge Insight CTS as a poor mans datalogger as well. My dilemma is that I want to log RPMs and the edge only accepts a 0-5v analog input such as a pressure transducer, does anyone have a part number or quick affordable solution for a converter to do this? I have searched around online without any sure fire solution. Thanks.

Any three wire speed sensor should work. You can usually feed them 5 volts on the signal wire and then they drop that voltage to ground every time there is a change in state (every tooth on a gear or notch in balancer etc). This will then give you a 0-5 volt square wave signal at the edge box.

You will need to know how many pulses the Edge box is looking for per revolution to make it work properly.

Good luck.
