I know the Cummins manual doesn't mention using it besides at the bottom where the oil pan gasket meets the timing case gasket. Does everyone use rtv on each side of the timing case casket between the block and timing case? This is on a fresh rebuild.

I use a thin layer of rtv on one side of gasket just to hold it up against the block. And obviously a generous amount on the bottom on the oil pan. Never had any leaks.

I pulled my motor to reseal it. Used Cummins gaskets with Grey RTV all over them. Not even a hint of a seep.

Thanks everyone. Timing case is on the new motor. Now i just need my arp rod bolts to show up!
