Anyone have any experience with wireless security cameras?

We are looking for something affordable (i.e. cheap), possibly color, live streaming and recordable.

Hoping to find something that will tie into the existing WIFI and record to a DVR of some sort. We do not keep a computer in the building all the time, so a stand alone unit is prefered.

If it's possible to view it online somehow that would be a bonus.

Thoughts/suggestions?

I hear they have cameras now that can uplink to your cell phone and you can view live video. I don't think they are too expensive. Someone told me Atwoods had them. I think they'd be great for trail cameras too.

That is one thing Monica had in mind as well, I just forgot about it.

We have the Intuit system here. Cool part is each person that has access to the shop has thier own passcode. So when they enter the code on the key pad, it will send the owner a message to thier phone saying "so and so is at the shop" And its surpsisingly affordable. Also the system has a 2TB memory space as well. Thats alot of saved recordings.

The buildign does not have an alarm, although we do have a biometric time clock will incorporate.

If I may make a recommendation: Get an alarm system installed first. Unless your immediate concern is internal theft (Employee related), I'd put my first investment into a monitored alarm system first. That way, in the event of brake-in you have an instant audible deterrent, and the ability to know about the event when it happens instead of reviewing footage the morning after you discover a theft, plus the immediate support of law enforcement.

Once that's up and running, if you still have capital you can invest in the camera system to assist with identifying the POS that kicked your door in and ran off when the alarm sounded.

The only way that doesn't make sense is if you're more concerned with internal theft.

I have a couple of these wifi cameras: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006ZP8UOW/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]Amazon.com : Foscam FI8910W Pan & Tilt IP/Network Camera with Two-Way Audio and Night Vision (Black) : Surveillance Cameras : Camera & Photo@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41mxwUUgreL.@@AMEPARAM@@41mxwUUgreL[/ame]

I use an IP Camera viewer app on my phone and like it alot. This particular model has an IR light that makes viewing at night very easy. It also has full pan/tilt, and can be mounted upside down. They do make this camera in an indoor/outdoor version too.

I set up a Logitech Alert system and it's almost plug'n'play. It used 6 Alert 750e's.

Forgot to mention, the security cameras we have here, are incorporated with the alarm system. With sensors on all doors including the roll up doors. And everytime a door opens the key pad will say which door just opened. "side door" "front door" etc.

It's not our building, just a space we rent, so we won't be getting an alarm. And Amish made the correct assumption I should have led with...internal theft is our concern.

Our shop is not a shop in the sense you are most likely all thinking. It's our bakery...which frankly is not bring the business we need it too, and foot traffic in this strip mall is non-existant. So we are going to rent it out to anyone who needs a commercial kitchen to have a food license (like those with food trucks). Of course we have a lot of our own money and inventory/product in there, so we want to keep it safe....we aren't going to babysit. LOL

For now I put up a couple trail cameras. One of them will take a stream of video or a three shot burst of still pics, either way it will send them to you on your cell phone and up to 5 phone numbers and email addresses instantly kind neat. 20 bucks a month for unlimited number of pics a month. If the camera gets stolen, it can be located with the Sim card.

I have DropCams in my house. Can watch from my phone, they're motion sensing and will send alerts for motion, sound and camera tampering to a smart phone. So far they've been awesome!

I should have shown you my system while you were here. It has great night vision, works off motion and records to a remote DVR, easily turns on and off for daytime operations, sends alerts to email, can be watched on any computer live with login, video is crystal clear, set up so I can watch it on a cell phone or get alerts from anywhere worldwide with a connection, and best of all it was very cheap and easy to set up. I also saved quite a bit on my insurance premiums for having it. We have 12 cameras total with 4 of them monitoring property boundaries so we get to see cool things like deer and coyotes coming into our yard during the night. Hopefully someday I can catch Sasquatch on it too.

I imagine you already have a few videos of Loren on it. You probably have the market monopolized having taped an albino sasquatch. :hehe:

lmao!!! no need for security to pick him up he does enough crazy sh!t in front of cameras here!!

What brand is the system you have?

I have avigilon at work and a super circuits system at the house. Both are HD and can be viewed on my phone. Call super circuits and talk to a specialist, they can make a package to fit your needs.

I'm also interested in what system you have as well.
