Signal Error

I bought a used smarty for an 03-07 from a friend of a friend and it will not allow me to load any programs but it will allow me to clear codes. When I try to load a program I get a signal error communication or something along those lines. What is my next step?
 
go under the hood disconnect the abs pump relay and the lift pump fuses, then program it. should be your problem if your truck is an 05
 
What is the EXACT error message that smarty dislays? .The messages are very specific. Does your truck have an aftermarket lift pump?
 
I had an "error comm time out" message and ended up running two new wires from the ecm to the data port to make it work.
 
Error unknown software was the message that smarty dislays. Yes the truck has a fass lift pump.
 
remove your abs pump fuse/relay and the lift pump fuses before programming that should take care of it.
you will not have to do this for adjusting tire size

99.9999% this truck has the brazilain code that needs to be whacked :doh:
