I was lucky, blessed or maybe cursed enough to be a beta tester for the
Smarty POD. It's no longer a rumor, it's REAL. It arrived yesterday & I
didn't get to test it until last night on my way home from work. I sent
a 1 word description to the mad men @ MADS, BADASS.
This thing works as advertised ! Not exactly what I expected, but I
wasn't sure what to expect. Based on my very limited trial with it here
is what I experienced:
Instant Power Level Changes ! I loaded up SW 9 with a POD setting of
99 which is full sw9 power and left the shop.Things were as usual as I
blew off both back tires with a "blip" of the throttle. As I cruised
down the road I decided to try POD # 30 (30%) and immediately noticed
the reduction in power, egts and smoke output. As I cruised up to the
freeway I changed to 75 on the pod and power was back up and truck
reacted faster to throttle input. Cruising down the freeway I had a
dude pull in behind me and flip his brights on, so I thought ok smart
guy, back to POD 99 and poof he disappeared into a black cloud. I now
have the POD set on 50 and will get some MPG testing done and find out
which POD level my truck likes best, for in city driving, as that is
what I do the most. Once I get the in city done, it will be time to
play more with the highway settings. What is your Smarty # ? is what
keeps running through my head. As that is the one piece I really
wanted. I love having SW 9 on and drive around with that, but sometimes
wished I could dial it back just a bit to reduce the cloud that was
left behind when I took off from a light under moderate acceleration and now
I have that and much more.
I'm sure there will be loads of questions, some of which I'll be able
to answer, others that I won't, that I'll defer to Bob or Marco. Most
likely I won't be able to respond back till this evening, as Rip is
keeping me busy during the day. Please be patient, as things just seem
to be getting better & better from MADS. This product is NOT yet
available. No, I don't know what it will cost either. I am however
FREAKING JACKED, as my truck is now the Dr.
Jekyl & Mr. Hyde I've hoped for.WHAT IS YOUR SMARTY NUMBER?

Here is a rundown on my Truck:
04.5 2500QC LB,5" Skyjacker Lift,35" Toyo MT's,3.73 Gears, DDP 90s,
stock cp3,H2 cam, arps, Source Automotive Trans with Dunrite convertor
and VB and IE Shafts, Hpfp 95gph, Source Automotive Twins
62/12 Over S-400, Dipricol Gauges, IE Coolant Bypass System

DITTO!!!

I just ditched my BD for the Smarty and I'm glad I did, but the adjustability is One of the things I did really love about the BD...

Hopefully they can develope an "Outlook style monitor" or something for the adjustable feature....

KEWL!!! I can't wait!!

interesting. Is there any more power to it ? Or, is it one of the current programs ?

I had heard something about this before. Awesome work Marco! This continues to make the Common Rail much more drivable while cruising with over 1K available at your finger tips.

One question... Say you are running the TNT program and crank up the pressure, TM, and timing; will this dial down those parameters like it does for duration?

I amrunning the TNT/R Program with it just gives me the ability to settle the old girl down while driving to and from work

Great news! Leave it to Bob and Marco to make a great product even better :rockwoot:.

I'm looking forward to trying this bad boy out!!! It's gonna be nice.

this is awesome news. i knew that bob/marco would come threw on yet another big breakthrough. good job fellas. this is gonna make me turning my truck down some even easier.

I'm assuming this new program is just manipulating the engine temperature (with out effecting the gauge) to get the desired power output. Apparently there are ways to tell the motor what the temp is going to be and it wilil fuel less or more based on this. :)

You can use a number of inputs. Air temp is another one. We do this when we are doing Bottle tuning on gas motors. Data ac the vehicle, spray some NOS across the air temp sensor and see what it reads. Take that reading and have a different fuel map around that temp.

It is cool you can do percentage rather than 3 programs.
