whats the difference between the so4 and s06?

the s04 wont work on 06-07 trucks. the software is the same for the 03-05 trucks as the s06

So why do they even put out the S04 if the S06 covers everything?

S04 was the original and then the S06 came out to handle all 3rd generation trucks.
