Starter question

Got a buddy with an 01 7.3

He needs to know if it matters if he uses the 2 bolt or 3 bolt starter. He has a 2 bolt on there now since that's what was on the truck, but wants to make sure there is no major difference between the 2.

I threw on a 3 bolt OBS style Mitsu starter on my truck. Works perfectly fine.
 
Ok cool. He was having problems with them falling off the truck LOL He's using lots of loctite on all the bolts now.
 
Problems with them falling off??? Damn, did he strip them out? That bell housing is soft enough, so it wouldn't be too difficult to do.
 
Nope LOL. the bolts kept vibrating out or something, and then the starter housing cracked and that led to more unseen issues. He's had no issues with the new one and loctite, just wanting to make sure.
 
Welp..... never once heard of that issue before.

Tell him to move to JB Weld instead of Loctite.... just in case. LOL
