Stepping down to 4 inch intake on s400

Is there any downside to stepping down a section of pipe to 4 inch for an intake on a 351/s475 compound setup I'm limited clearance

On my compounds I feed my 472sxe with a 488sxe using 3.5" tube for interstage pipe. No problems at all.

What sized filter?

From my experience with a FI 488 ETR with V2 as my primary it needs minimal restriction. Running a 5.5"-6" elbow to a 6" tube with an AFE pro dry 6b x 8w x 12l filter I saw a 12-15si gain just by removing a prefilter sleeve.

I couldn't imagine reducing to a 3.5.

10" Velocity stack on primary compressor inlet. 488sxe only has a 3.5" compressor outlet, I run 3.5" interstage pipe then step up to 5.5" compressor inlet on my 472 manifold turbo with a 4" long concentric reducer. The 3.5" interstage pipe isn't a restriction because the 488 compressor outlet is only 3.5".

He's talking about the inlet piping going into the primary, that the air filter is on.
 
Let's not reinvent the wheel. It is a pretty simple setup making normal power. Nothing exotic. You are fine OP.
