strange timing problems/cutting out

have an 06 3500. what it does is at 18-2000 rpm it will cut out blow fuel smoke then pull out of it and run fine. when it does that it dumps the timing. not sure of what the base is but it will go from 4-8* to -3-6*.

it starts cold or hot fine, does not do it all the time. it has a cam, thicker hg to accommodate was a 0.10 over then block was machined and gained 0.10 piston protrusion, so it was offset with 0.20hg, small charger, just over hauled. truck had coolant drained and got hot....reason for overhaul...same cam and such prior and no issues.

have tried new re-flash, injector harness, injectors, fca, map sensor, crank sensor... also the truck has no tuning. no check engine light or anomalies on scan tool aside from the drop in timing. plumb run out if ideas???

Monitor coolant temp, the sensor might be doing weird things.

God help you. Been there done that, never could find the fricken problem. Definitely let me know if you find it. I have seen it only on two trucks before, both were 04.5's.
