Im having a hard time figuring this problem out. The tach does not work and the truck has no power at all after installing a new motor. Does 0-60 in closer to 30 seconds. Im getting a p0222 code (crank sensor code) I have tried 3 different sensors and none have fixed it. But when I clear the codes and start the truck after the tach works for less than 5 seconds. Also the truck never starts on first turn of the key, you have to crank for 5 seconds. Stop and then crank again for it to start.
Is there any possibility that the tone ring on the crank has a different number of teeth and giving the computer a weird reading. The truck is a 99 and the new motor came out of a 99 also.

We have already changed the crank shaft sensor. And what would checking the manufacture date on the replacement engine do?

Make sure its not a late 99 or 00.

Or just make sure it even has a tone ring on the crank.

tought the tone ring on the cam gear did not start till the 01 model year. but like roach said pull crank sensor and look in block to just make sure it has tone ring.
