What's the best turbo to run under a HE351VGT? I'm looking for a VGT, and price is concern, unless, somebody wants to sponsor, LOL.

I can tell I'm making a good amount of power, especially on the bottom end, but, after 2kRPM, I can tell, at WOT, this truck begins to choke for air, and by 2,500RPM, theres a ton more fuel than air. If I can put another turbo under this one, and Externally WG the 351 to drive the big charger harder that'd be great.

I'm controlling my 351 with a pneumatic air cylinder right off drive pressure and springs. I'm in the process of modifying my spring return right now.

Back to the original question, what VGT turbo do yall recommend I put on my wifes 12v under my 351vgt?

Details of the motor,
215 motor
4k GSK
Turned Barrels
370 Injectors
23* Timing

HeadStuds are on standby, I have them here in a box. I also have a Powershot 2000 Propane kit installed (with a 86 gallon tank in the bed), a Snow water kit with the 225 pump (with a 13 gallon tank in the bed, plumbed for on board water also), nitrous ready to mount up, and co'2 sprayers on the back burner..

Advice?

I have a spare motor to put in (I'd prefer to not have to.), it just needs rebuilt. I also have a spare p-pump running 660cc's when I took it out...

HE851?

Nobody even has an opinion?

Not looking for a mathematical solution with airflow rates, and lbs/min. Just a good 'ole redneck idea throwin'.

Anybody have a VGT layin' around?

A cheaper easier idea would be the quick spool flange, valve, whatever you want to call it. Unfortunately the development behind these has stopped as far as the public knows. There are however people working on their own version of them but patience will be required to get these optimal. If they don't work properly they can cause some serious drive pressure (my hg knows).

In short keep your pants on lol. Speaking from first hand experience they definitely make a large turbo spool much much faster.

Your essentially running an HX40, size accordingly. HT3B, HT60, S475

Ok, but, I'm into the "unique" thing.

Guess I'm looking for a HT3B/HT60/S475 sized VGT turbo, but, I dunno what to look for. I'm really not up to date with whats available, nor am I on the internet much anymore to know what's out there.

Any leads? Know anybody to call for a secondary VGT turbo?

Probably gonna run it off drive pressure and a pneumatic cylinder like my primary VGT is...

Damn, I thought you were just looking for a normal charger.

Look for an HE551V. Its a 71mm vgt. If you see on that is labeled HE551VE, the E is for electronic.

Isn't a 71mm turbo to small for the "big" charger? I see II makes a 70+mm turbo for a single turbo now.

My he351vgt spools way better than factory and makes alot more power down low than factory. Just cruising in the neighborhood I can easily see 5lbs of boost at 1,200rpm. Just normally getting up to speed I can easily see 15psi at 1,500rpm smoke free.

I guess what I'm saying, is, I could be running a much, much bigger turbo for the top turbo, so, learning from that, I think I could use a much much bigger turbo than what would be considered "normal" for the bottom turbo.

Am I thinking correctly?

I'll start searching for a HE551VE...

The biggest vgt I know of off the shelf is a HE561VE. The HE851 is a non-vgt turbo.

The 551 is a 71 mm but you need to remember that it is on 500hp 15 liter engine. It will move plenty of air for a 5.9, use it for the compounds atmosphere turbo and continue with the HE351.

I'm looking for 3 of them if you stumble across a pile of them.
