tappet cover leaking

just noticed my tappet cover leaking from what i can tell it dont look like u can get to the front bolt without removing the injection pump. so can it be done without removing the pump?

Nope, you get to strip the driver side of the block, both the VP and the power steering/vac pump need to come off. You cannot get it off without doing so. While you have it off, reseal the vac pump, it's easy to do and another common oil leak.

Get a new gasket from Cummins, and use a good silicone to help it seal.

Always left the vac pump on when I do them. Just take the VP and Ecm off

If he's there anyways Billy does make a good suggestion on pulling a resealing.

Just PM so another leak doesn't develop.

Yea, I always leave the vacuum/ps pump, but I don't use any silicone on the new gasket. They usually last over 150k miles and 10 years, so no need for messy RTV. Just clean with scotchbrite pad and wipe clean.
