to powerder coat or not?

i am getting ready to have my pipes made to hook up my intercooler and its gonna have to be pieced together and welded. i am wondering if rust has ever been an issue or not and if i should just paint it or go with powder coating.

has there ever been a problem with the home made intercooler pipes or intake tubes rusting and then flaking off?oke:

Powder it and make it look good! Other than that i dont have anything to add to this thread.
