Towing with 150HP injectors on a VP truck

zstroken

For $$$ your name here
Stock HX35 turbo, 150HP injectors.

Grossing about 15K. Would EGT's be an issue between sea level and 1000ft above?

I was told a truck setup this way could run WOT all day and would never exceed 1250 degrees.

I would exceed 1500 degrees with 100HP injectors. Was my truck a fluke?

Lets assume best case of optimal tire size, and gear ratio.

Friend of mine has a stock 2000 VP truck. 5spd, 3.54s, Edge EZ, SDX 125s, AirDog 150, and you have to really try to get it to touch 1200

LOL, guess I was banned for rightful reason on another forum.
I have had 4 different sets of injectors in my old truck and that thing would would come on 1600 pretty easy while grossing 18K.

Turn on the wire tap and it would take 2 seconds to cool down to 1600. LOL

Thats a lot of fuel, I don't think what you were told about egts below 1200 is accurate at all. I'm a class a driver and use my 05 and gooseneck to drive all over the place for a living and my egts get pretty high depending on the steepness of the grade and length of the grade, all i know is before this truck I had an 02 flatbed and it was way worse for pegging the egts...

Mine with 150CPP's and HR pump with Fass would hit 1300 unloaded in about 1 millasecond and the Comp wasnt on. I was never brave enough to turn the box on with the stock charger.

I had my 150's and an the hx35 on mine for about 30 min. It pegged my 1600 gauge pretty quick before the poor hx35 exploded at 62 psi

Firend's truck I set up for him...
02 HO, NV5600 Dually, 3.55's....Edge EZ, Mach 4's, Garrett Stage 2 (GT3782R)...towing 14K lbs, 13' tall it would max at about 1325* in the manifold. I had Jammer 5's in it as well, and they would run a bit hotter, but not much. Didn't seem to make the power either.

The setup I'm building now in our FL80 to gross 50-60K lbs is pretty much identical to that one, except I'm doing a S360ET/65/12 instead of the Garrett. Gears are lower too, effectively a 4.10 gear

So I'd say, with a stock charger, it could be very warm...especially with a wire tap!

I ran jammer 5s on the stock charger with an edge comp, only timing, 35"s, and 3.55s. Flat ground no load I saw around 1300 degrees measured pre turbo on a wide open run. With my ADR 4K tapped it would peg the 1600* gauge in 3rd.

When I had a 35 on my truck with a edge ez and 120's I could hit 1600 UNLOADED. Put a 3b under that 35 or you'll be walkin.

On my truck with a 66/71/13ss htt, edge EZ and sdx 150's towing ~5-6K (CJ7 w/v8 and trailer), the COOLEST temp I saw was 1200 in the manifold at 2000PRM at 70mph. I'm going to a smaller injector and I think I am going to try a HE351VGT, since I am now going to tow heavier....

Yeah, I've got a set of BD150s, but I don't think I'll put them in, unless I go the compound route..

Holy crap! When were you spooling the Turbo?

If I feather the pedal out just right I can get it to spool by about 1600 or 1800 RPM, but towing with the cruise on...thats a very different story!!
