I seem to fight trailer brakes on my gooseneck all the time. I've put new electric brakes on it which seem to not last very long. I had electric over hydrualic which worked great till the power unit quit after a little over a year. Replaced that one and the next one quit about the same.

Hydraulic brakes seem to be the best bet but I'm not going to go threw the electric over hydraulic again. Has anyone seen surge brakes on a gooseneck. This seems the simple way but don't know if it's legal or can be done. I hate to bite the bullet and buy six new electric brake backing plates only to have them quit in less than a year. Trailer has three 7000 lb. axles.

How about you truck brakes operate a slave cylinder that moves a master cylinder on your trailer. Mount it so it's a quick disconnect type mount, so you remove the slave from your trailer while unhooking.

LOL While I meant that half jokingly, I suppose it probably could be made to work and I would think it could be pretty reliable.
