transmission info

not sure where to post this so ill put it in this section. i have a buddy with a 93 12 valve with the VE pump and A518 4 speed auto transmission. my understanding that the A518 is the same basic tranny as the 47 and 48 re but much less stout and non lockup. so my question is can the 518 be convertered over to a lockup style with internal mods or swap internals from a 47 or 48 version??? short of finding a 47rh around my area which is not so easy as that would be the ideal version to put behind the 1st gen motor, just want to know what, if anything like this is possible. any help would be appreciated. thanks

the internal will probably all swap in but the cases are different, a 518 with non lockup has a 2 pin connector and a locking one use a 3 pin, there are passages in the locking case that carry fluid from the vb to the tc to lock it and they arent in the non locking cases, also the vbs will be different
