VP help needed wont start on its own

just put an rv engine in my 01 it wont start on its own, give it a sniff of either and itll run perfect no misses at all it just wont fire on its own. You can crank for 15 sec and it wont hit a lick.. Im thinking a bad vp any advice..
 
When mine wouldn't start, it was a bad VP. After starting with ether, it ran just fine...just wouldn't start. No codes either. Replaced the VP and went right back to instant starts.
 
I replaced the crank sensor and its workin now but you never know the vp could be on the way out... Thanks for the reply
 
Had a buddies truck do the same thing. Replaced the Crank Sensor and it has ran fine for over a year.
 
there is a check valve in there i think not totally sure.... sometimes they can go bad and it might not be getting the full amount of fuel it should...... just another idea
