Water-cooled turbo plumbing

So what's the best way to plumb a water-cooled turbocharger?

Do you want to go in parallel with the engine? In series with the heater core?

Dont plumb the return just upstream of the thermostat. I know a guy that did that. Took him forever to figure out why the engine took hours to warm up.

I believe my Audi grabbed a port off the rear (inlet side) of the head then returned post tstat. It's been years since I've had it though, so I'm a little foggy.

I've run both single and twin water cooled turbos. I put them inline with the heater core, post heater core so it would get the cooler water. Worked just fine for 4-5 years with the twins and 3 years on the single. I also had an espar inline with that, so the turbos would get the hot water from that when it was on, still no issues.
