Weird idle??? Help please!

Hey guys, I've got a buddy who just bought a 2007.5 and everything has been working perfectly up until a few days ago. He lives a couple of hours from me and called me and described the problem as a "high idle". He said that it's idling around 700-750 until you put it in gear. Shifting in gear is a hard jolt (worse in reverse) and the rpm's jump up to 850-900. He said he has to keep the brake depressed pretty hard to keep it from rolling off. Driving operation is fine and the tranny shifts normal and smooth. I'm not very familiar with the 6.5's so I figured I would ask the guys in the know but I'm thinking maybe a governor pressure solenoid or something but know that I'm probably way off. :doh: Any ideas or help???

Assuming its 2007.5 and not a 1907.5 just plug it into a scan tool and see what's not right.

And assuming that it is an 07.5+ cummins 6.7 and not a late 90s chevy 6.5, go with the scanner.:doh:
