welding crank gear to crank?

In our experience you need a Crank gear that is made in the USA cause the others we found ,Germany , Japan , Brazill Ect. was made from powdered metal an the welds end up cracking . The USA gear if you look at it closely you can see the toolmarks which means it was machined . We tig all ours with 308 stainless filler an four 3/4 inch welds .
