What did S500's come on?

dammmm thats a big boiyy. wounder what kinda air that thing is capable of moving:eek:

probably the amount of a small tornado. Give a trailer house a run for its money.

Shipping to 52624... wait I'm on a buget I better come get it! :charger::hehe:

Some of the 3516 have 4 Borg Warner S510C's with a 86.50mm inducer Ti compressor wheel and a 98mm Exducer turbine. Also have a cast iron compressor housing (With this turbo there is no longer a need to run weights for pullin because it is heavy). Alot of the Cat stuff uses an O-ring compressor discharge. And they are water cooled.

I work where those are assembled in Lafayette the diesels have even bigger turbos on them. I do mainline assembly we get a long block and put turbos on filter housings fuel systems, etc, etc til its a running engine. Rod and piston weighs over 350lbs and a 16 cyl engine weighs 80k. 16 cyl diesels can make 10,000 hp and over 47,000 lb ft of torque we live dyno test each engine.

when you go in the test cell you have to wear ear plugs and ear muffs and you can feel it pounding on your chest. Ive seen them blow turbos, blow fire rings (which is what seals the head to the cylinder) because of ECU problems and cracked pistons.

its off a 3600 series cat engine out of a ship. that engine has 4 of those turbo's

Im not sure where you got your info at they put 2 turbos on a V and 1 on an inline. The C175s (the 3500s eventual replacement) have 4 on the bigger Vs that they are trying to meet emmissions with but its a lot smaller of an engine therefore the turbos are a lot smaller.

my fuels teacher at school. im going to cat certified training and work at MacAllister. that turbo came off a 3600 series engine from a great lakes freighter. i was just up at the laffayette factory last thurs. those 3600's have 300mm bore, use mahle monotherm pistons and the 3500's have 280m bore. when lafayette gets a 3612 from the foundry they machine off a little over a ton of material. and although the c175 is smaller in size.. its produces the same out or more power just in a smaller package. but your right.. we didnt go in one of the dyno cells but walked past one and you could just feel the floor vibrate. it was pretty cool.

ya thats cool I just am not sure why he told you it took 4 of those turbos on a 3600. He might have got misinformed. They have these tour guides that like to tell you what ever they feel like that day. I work in the part next to the wall next to the rollover if you saw that where they put the pistons and heads in a V. I was just saying I never saw a 3600 with 4 turbos they dont even make the parts to put 4 turbos on them they make a front mounted and rear mounted turbo but not 4. Wasnt trying to sound like a smarta$$

Are the 16 cyl diesels the engines they put in those massive trucks they use in the coal mines? 756A? i think probly wrong

They use 3516s in Cat 789 and 793 Trucks, The 93s use a High displacement version. The 797s us a 3524 which is 2 3512s with a couple between them, Its gettin replaced by a C175 20 cyl, while the 793 is getting a C175 16 cyl this year.
