When do you lock your convertor?

When racing with the truck in drive with the old column shifter used to lock it at the top of 2nd. Now with the pro ratchet shifter I flip the switch which locks the converter as soon as I hit 2nd.
 
Honestly on OD, I just shift it when it sounds like it needs it. LOL Hopefully in a few weeks I can give a RPM of that once we make some passes.
