I am in a pickle trying to pick out a converter...

Truck is a daily driver, with 916hp at crank measured on a water brake dyno-MITE "land and sea" dynamometer...

never drove the new truck with this motor, as i'm currently building a RH47 for it...

Just looking for the right converter...

Truck is as said before, daily driven, tows a #10000 on occasion and does see the strip every now and then, but is thought of as a more of a weekend warrior...

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated !

You are past the sane levels of power. You are far beyond what a triple billet tc would handle. You want something big, bad, and very expensive, I think this is just what you need. Sun Coast Diesel TransmissionsDodge "Omega" Billet Shaft - Kit | Catalog Products | Sun Coast Diesel Transmissions Call them to make sure you get the correct stall speed for your needs.

Read this also for more information.

Yeah, i've been looking at these shafts, but i don't think the truck will be producing much more than 650whp in the truck... these water brake dynos load more than the truck will ever experience driving i think...

will upgrade to billet shafts later, but currently just looking at torque converters...

maybe also a upgrade in planetary gears, and where to shop them, hard to find it all over the internet as i'm overseas...

i've built my transmission with the following:
RED Alto HD Master kit including all clutches and gaskets and such,
Transgo SK-TFOD shift kit
Sonnax Billet Accumulator and Servo Kit
both the Wedge and Strut out of billet
and a deep sump TCI trans pan

Hope i won't have a incident like Big Swole:

You aren't far and above all feasible power, a dpc triple disc, with around stock stall or a little less, and a well built transmission with plenty of pressure for lockup and clutch packs, and as long as valving and shift points are correct any 300m input should handle it just fine.

Yeah, you're not near the "excessive" power level...

tcs 300m shaft is a great piece.. and you arent making near the power swole was when his imploded.. A decent trans build should do just fine.

A tripled billet tc is rated for 1,500 foot pounds of torque. That is normally around 700-750HP according to revmax.

916 hp as the OP says he is seems to be above that level. Even if we figure a 20% driveline loss that would be about 732hp. That could be above the power limit. Besides, it would appear that the torque limit is at the front (input) of the torque converter not at the rear axle.

You can read the limits for yourself here.
47RE Stage 4 Torque Converter (1996-1998)

You can look at several other tc makers and they all have the same 1,500 ft. lb. rating. That is probably because not many makers of that triple billet kit exist.

Explain again how I was off so far in my assessment of 916 HP being above the acceptable power limit of a triple tc? I do not see it.

Because his dyno was at the crank, with far more load than the truck will be able to put on the engine.

A triple will be just fine for him.

Also, the ratings from Revmax (which apply to that convertor, not all triple discs) are rear wheel numbers, as that the numbers people go by, because that how we typically measure power.

And, people here actually have experience with more power than he is making, not posting links for random, though informative material.

A triple will be fine.

You have been messing this poor guy up on both his Trans threads, mr hick. He will be fine, and we have vendors that we like here more than revmax.

Well said Brandon!

There are DPC triple disc converters all over the country holding that much power or more on a daily basis....
