:shake:

Those stupid plastic buttons on the linkage decided to pop off the passenger side wiper. Ice buildup on the cowl must have been the culprit.

I'm looking at modifying the linkage with some mini hiem joints and get rid of them buttons.

Anybody else have this issue?

Here's my hillbilly mod. Take the linkages, motor and wiper assy out cut the posts off, drill the rest of the post out using a 1/4 bit. I used 4 1/4 x 3/4 bolts with nylocks and fender washers, took new bushings from Napa and cut the center out. Put the new bushing in the arms, now put the motor and wiper arm assemblies back in.

Slide the linkages in use the 1/4 in bolts to reassemble, the fenders washers need to be just bigger than the bushing. Don't kill it tight because the bushing will smash and wedge them tight.

Mine worked great on my other truck till I sold it.

Are you gonna make new tubular linkage rods :evil or are you gonna weld these to the stamped steel linkages??

I got it about half done, but I was to tired after the barn roof to finish it tonight...

Mine fell apart in a down poor in the middle of the night-nowhere!!!

I put it together how I thought it should go with a vacuum cap that fit over the stud, and a metric nut twisted onto the vacume cap. It held so long I forgot I rigged it lol.

The heim joint and nylock setup mentioned both seem over adequate/perfect to me.
:)

Finally had time to pick up some tubing, need to pick up another pair of hiem joint sets for the other linkage.

Decided that I need to throw this nut in the lathe and remove enough material so I can slide it halfway into tube and weld it.....

To be continued....$.02

Went to my buddy's shop for a few minutes on his Southbend.....

When I told him the issue and my fix, he giggled and agreed this was a perfect remedy.

Now I gotta wait for a clear day so I can remove the stock linkages and cut and fit tube to length. Then weld up.....

To be continued.......:thankyou2:
