there's some talk of setting up some drag racing events through the winter in the southern east states.... mainly FLA, but that's open.

We'd be looking at year round racing. I would imagine to start off there wouldn't be many events but, it's something to build on.

I posted this to see whether the interest is out there to have NADM go through the trouble of trying this.

Speak up ! let hear your thoughts !

I'm playing in FL in Feb at Bradenton. That'd be sweet if it was sanctioned.

Used to winter on Ft. Myers every year. I dont see a problem with it. Gives me a reason to go back.

Not to hijack but, maybe a NADM Winter National Drag Race and sled pull, just a thought. Wouldnt mind being in Florida in Jan-Feb when its 20 here.

I like florida events...If I'm employed at the time of the event I should show up.

last I saw the Bradenton track, it was a a cheezy stock car circle track.... what did they do to it ? Do they have a 1/4 mile strip now ?

What might be some other good venues to put a event on at.... south of Gainesville ? Miami might be too far south for anyone coming for out of state but, maybe a good place if there's a lot of guys in that area

anything in the Orlando area ? What about Daytona, chicks, the beach and diesels, that sounds fun

I dunno what they used to have, but they had just finished putting up their new retaining walls last year. Here's an aerial pic of their site:

Gainesville was nice as well. I wouldn't mind either one. IIRC, Bradenton had done some truck pulling last winter so they should be easier to setup for a race & pull event.

wow ! I lived in Tampa for 20yrs and there was never anything like that, Gainesville was the closet. Bradenton was more like a backwoods local circle track.

Well, as you may know, a track like that wouldn't be cheap to rent. Hopefully Ron sees this thread and will look into it though

Any of these sound good??

Ty we get to race here in Md til around dec the 25th after that you might get a few more weeks in.

I vote for 1/4 mile tracks only. Sunshine is still open :hehe:, totally scratch that track. It's cool but, very old and small. Right in my old back yard though.

Chuck, are you guys talking to any of these places yet ?

I would love to have some florida events any time in the year. Bradenton Motorsports is my home track as well as some other members on here. I'll be following this thread.

spread the word with your friends that are into it down there and get some input ! It helps those who have to set things up to know that it's worth the effort

Winter Racing

Maybe ty it into the Suncoast event. It may save some money for both and make for a very large turnout. Winter racing is always fun. Jeff
