I posted this here some time ago and just got back to it.
96 Dodge with S-475 had same problem with modified stock turbo. I will attach 2 vids of truck, it runs fine until about 10 lbs of boost then loses power, runs rough and blows smoke rings out of stack. 10 - 15 lbs boost, 1000 degrees EGT I don't have RPM, I can get it if it helps. All suggestions welcome.

Hint - the turbo is not related to the issue.

Edit: Neither is it boost related.

I didn't replace turbo to fix problem it was going on anyway.
I can take the heat, How about some constructive comments.

Where is timing set?

Timing is stock as far as I know. Truck has some pump mods.
180K miles. I was trying to sort this problem before more upgrades including timing bump. This started while my son was bringing his personal items home before military deployment outside continental US. I guess best place to start is timing and fuel pressure.

It kinda sounds like it's got no fuel pressure but i think your timing slipped. If it's still smoking while its popping like that your pump gear most likely slipped.

Had something like that happen to me, Had my AFC boost line break off.

i had a near identical problem but the poping noise, only a suggestion
