I read the teardown process for a zf5 and saw that one of the first things done is to take off the front housing/ case. i have a cummins swap project im working on and have a zf5 out of a 7.3 4x4. i have the adapter for small block ford to cummins. what i want to do is take a small block zf5 housing and swap it onto the deisel gears and rear housing. making it a close ratio small block zf5 4x4. i have a small block zf 2wd i was gunna steel the housing off of. anybody done this?? will it work or am i missing stuff. any info on input shaft differences?? clutch options? thanks guys in advance.
