Zf 5 speed

I have installed the S5-42 and 47 7.3 versions behind 300HP 12 valves towing heavy weight frequently. The ZF internals are same size as NV4500. ZF design and finish strikes me as being ahead of the NV stuff however, the integral bellhousing the ZF's sold in the US market use make them less modular.

I don't know where the ZF fails at in terms of HP. The ZF-5 failures I've seen mostly center around incomplete clutch disengagement common with pre-97 F-series underdash clutch pedal linkage wear. Reverse synchro clutch teeth are often damaged first, but spirited driving without full clutch disengagement takes it's toll on the other parts too.
 
Thank-you for your imput, i would to install one into my pulling truck this winter just to see if i like iot better than a automatic
 
Put a ZF 6 in there out of a 6.0 or 7.3. Be easier to find one for a 7.3 probably they didnt put alot of ZF6 behind 6.0.
