Modified that plug today for a fuel pressure port, its now got a #4 flare sticking out of it. Using a oil drain fitting is a good idea.
Never thought of cutting the front of the head off, good idea. Do you have a link to a picture of a head modified like that?
Did a bit more today, rocker arms were all taken apart and inspected, pjt pack together with assembly lube. Valvetrain is now all together and lashed. Pump is on, timed at 18 degrees.
Lift pump, fuel lines, fuel return, p/s pump and lines, mounting the computer, are the next big jobs.
