03 using oil

my good friend has a 03 that he has had to add 3 qrt of oil in the last 6500 miles there's no drips or smoke so where it going it's his first diesel and it has 44,000 miles and runs good and all stock any help

I'm assuming that 6,500 miles is without an oil change, correct?

Ford doesn't even consider a problem unless it's using more than a quart every 900 miles.

Tell your friend not to worry too much.
