Id really like to see this rule done away with for 2010. Why have it? I know the idea is to have the supsension actually "work" but thats a weak argument. As soon as you tighten up the chain your truck will be sitting on the blocks anyway. I would rather drop one inch of hitch height and run solid instead of having full hitch height with one inch of travel. I have discussed this with several other 2.6 class pullers and they feel the same way. This rule really doesnt accomplish anything except make it a PITA. Plus half the time it doesnt even get teched so the ones that actually abide by the rule are at a disadvantage to those that sneak by. I also feel that in some situations it may help contribute to bouncing and more stress on drivetrain parts. Please note that there is a difference between "solid/welded suspensions" and "solid blocked".

doesnt most of the orgs allow solid block in everything but WS? IIRC NADM, COPTC allow for solid block 2.6 and up

NADM does allow solid blocks. But there are several smaller organizations that I know of that still have the 1 inch travel rule. I know for sure that Scheid insists on it at both TS and SDX.

The 1" rule needs to be tard, featherd, and sent to the pits!!!!! Get rid of that thing!!!

What is it with this stupid rule? I have dealt with it at a few local pulls this year and I just looked at the rules for Scheid this year and 1 inch travel is required in both 2.6 and 2.8 :bang

i hate gey rules....... i think everyone should adopt NADM ruling... LOL EVEN FAIRS AND SUCH!!!!

our two clubs require 1" as well

I think it is in the hopes of tryin to keep our trucks "street legal" which is a joke considerin not a single truck in my class could pass an environmental smoke test

ya i dont like that rule either and never have. there isnt a single truck in the 2.6 or 2.8 class that would come close to passing a smoke test like seeker1051 said. this rule needs to be gone away!

The rule is stupid. I think it is really dumb. If you want the trucks to pull 1" lower then just change the hitch hitch to 25". Who wants to tech that stupid rule anyways? "hey man, your blocks only have 7/8 inch of travel you need to get it up 1/8 of an inch!" Just measure the hitch and be done with it. 1" travel only makes tech harder.

I am guessing it is an insurance thing, much like plated and insurance.

it has nothing to do w/ insurance and actually it's pretty stupid to require plates and insurance on a truck that can be hauled in on a trailer, and when your truck is hooked to a sled your auto insurance is useless. the 1" travel rule is just something that was adopted from some old school street gas classes rules and needs to be updated. most of the major organizations have realized it doesn't make that big of diff. 1 way or the other and removed it from their rules. yes it would be nice if everyone would follow but that doesn't always happen:bang

Actually the lisenced and insured is an insurance thing for the promoters insurance provider for liability. I am not agreeing with the rule, just saying where it originated from.

First, ive never had anyone even ask let alone check insurance and how many take the plate off of their tow rig and stick it on their pullin' truck then back on the tow rig if need be. Second, i've helped with pulls and another guy and I put one on this year and that was never anything even asked or brought up by insurance for the pull. I'm sure every insurance company is different, but anything i've ever seen it has nothing to do with that.

logansport indiana made you 2 years ago bring vehicle regisration and insurance card when signed up

1 inch is gay, i dont even have a 1 inch option 1/2 inch or 3inch is my options

I stand corrected House, but i didn't pull 2 years ago so that's why i knew nothing of it. That was two years ago though, 2.6 trucks weren't trailer queens then! hahaha
