Link to a dyno run of my brothers truck on Floorit diesels dyno dynamics dyno. The only thing different between then and now is we have since bumped timing from 17 to 27* and put two 625 snow performance jets in for water(we had none at this time). Let me know what you think. Tim

Time to injector upgrade and little bit pump tuning ?

Injector upgrade will be coming soon but what kind of tuning should we do? We are pretty much looking for all the fuel we can get. There is no afc on the pump so not alot to tune. Tim

Those injectors have been in the truck for a while and for 350 dollars, so far are deffinantly worth the money. We are going to 5x18 dual feeds. Mod list includes stock 97 auto pump timed at 17* then, 27* now, no plate, no afc, cds 5k springs, full cuts and .120 holders and lines, marine 300s inj, stock mechanicle lift pump, 30 thou over marine head gasket, 12mm arps torqued to 140 ft-lbs, 60 lb valve springs, silver bullet 66 and complete 5speed sbc dd swap, dana 80 axles. On the highway at 65-70mph, averaged 15.5 mpg Tim

27*? I guess it helps if you're turning 5000rpm. I'm assuming you're pulling with this truck?

don't take this the wrong way, but it sounds like he's got a TON of smokepower, but not so much horsepower :o

my red 98 made 535/1196 with DDP4's, sps62, stock DV's, stock holders, stock lines, and a stock lift pump, only 18.5* timing. pulled HARD to 4000, and cleaned up nicely once the turbo lit. Had a very hard time seeing 1600* EGT. no water. at 65-70 averaged ~18mpg, but I never drove that slow.

I swapped a silver bullet on it and it picked up on the big end and would barely touch 1400* EGT (didn't get a chance to redyno)

looks like there is enough fuel right now to run an hx50 or an s400 variant as a single that thing smokes alot, i would probably put the afc back in, so you can tune it unless its not driven on the street.

Forrest i agree with you and think that the injectors are holding it back creating alot of heat, but the guy running the dyno said that the truck really liked the load being put on it but it needed more timing to make better use of the rpms. We are getting the injectors taken care. We also plan on swapping out the stock cam in the near future. Yes we are building it to hot rod and pull with. I thought the torque was a little low but i dont know. We will see what happens when we get the injectors swapped in. Tim

I also agree that we could stand a bigger charger on there. We went with the silver 66 because everybody said it was so big and laggy, but even with the waste gate adjusted as much as we can, it will still bury a 60 lb gauge. I called II and they said most people complain becaues they cant get 45 out of it. I told him we were worried about blowing up a brand new turbo but he said run it. We have talked about swapping my hx50 with his and trying it on there.

Scooter, we will see how it is tuned on wednesday in Bloomington. Hopefully alot of people will show. Did you get your truck tuned in?

get some real injectors in there, get some cleaner DV's in there, and put the AFC back on, and it'll be a whole different truck

Forrest, a guy that works for scheids said that no matter how you adjust the afc, you can gain 50cc fuel by taking it off. That is why its gone. Have you ever heard anything like that? I will admit im not much of a tuner, but technically doesn't the afc control the bottom to mid fuel range? So like for pullin or dynoing, the tuning wont effect the fuel and smoke on top, it will only help make it cleaner on the street? Hopefully, wednesday will be a good pull and we can get that video on here to. The smoke is cleaner with the 27* timing, (not much but a little). Tim

if you don't modify the AFC for more travel, then yes, it can hold you back, but if you modify it, it won't limit flow
