I popped a head gasket.. long story short my head is pretty darn rough. I had a industrial 12 valve, p pump engine laying here. It came out of a 92 motor home. I read on here in old threads the industrial head has pressed in seats and the trucks are induction hardened seats. Is this true? I also noticed this engine had a cam gear bolt on retainer, in found that interesting from the factory.

What is the better choice the industrial or truck head? The only casting difference in the two is casting numbers and the spot on the bottom of the shelf where a fuel filter would mount on like a 4bt.

Thanks ahead of time.
Colton

Anybody have any info based on casting numbers?

I went ahead and gave him a call. I don't do twitter or whatever that **** is. I just figured he would know. He was very helpful. I just still wonder if this head does really have press in seats.. thanks dd lol

I've seen the @ sign work on this forum for tagging people, just saying

I thought they set it up? I swear there was a thread on it a bit ago.

youve got both heads there, just look. if that were the case one would have an obvious seat insert in a machined counterbore/register and the other wouldnt.

The head in question ended up havin a valve guide cracked supposedly anyway.. truck is still in pieces. Fml.

Soon to be installed tomorrow.

So what did you do about the cracked guide and did you port the head or no? Looks clean under there.

I walked away from the cracked head. Minor porting, valve job, couple guides, backcut valves, dual valve springs. Thanks for the compliment.
