12v timing

BINGO!!!

The numbers are arbitrary, they are just for our convenience and help in comparing. You don't set timing to a number, you set it to what performs best.

how do you know what performs best? do you just keep turning the crane till you land on something that runs right? or do you use actual measurements?

seat of pants of course!!!!! always the best dyno. no wait just a little more!!!

i use the above formula, my pump is pinned @ 16*.... 1/4" advance puts me @19ish... give or take.... right where i wanna be... and the truck is running the way i want it.

I do what most people do, take an educated guess. I use plunger lift values for comparison but one could also use the spill port method. The numbers are simply to help us keep track of where we are.

You turn it to the measured mark. If it doesn't run the way you want try something else.....Its free after all! :snoop:
